Who is Magic Trikk?
Magic Trikk was born in Bowie, Maryland, born May 28th, 2003. He is one of four siblings, with his two brothers and sister. His mother is an elementary school teacher, and his father had a record deal with Def Jam and is now the CEO of Nulook Records, so naturally, his childhood was filled with experiences related to the music industry.
It was like a routine for him to witness the creation process. Since he was a little boy, he would hang around backstage and watch in awe as artists performed before large crowds. So, logically, he was inclined to become a musical artist himself when he grew up.
Watching the successes and setbacks of other artists he grew up around also provided Magic Trikk a road map of the dos and don’ts that helped support his plans for his own successful career. These experiences also motivated and inspired him to make a career in music his ultimate goal. Indeed, this helped him become the person he is and will continue to lead him to what he wants to be in the future.
During his high school days, Magic began making music and writing songs as a hobby. Around that time, some of his friends started calling him Magic Trikk. The music he was making was astonishing for his age and the name stuck. He has gone by the pseudonym ever since.
When he turned sixteen, Magic Trikk started recording his songs, with the intention of pursuing it as a career. His musical inspirations are Lil Tjay, Lil Durk, Post Malone, Pnb Rock, Lil Baby, and Swipey. These are pretty huge shoes to fill, but he looks to them for inspiration.
At the end of 2020, Magic Trikk released his first ever album, Bipolar Emotions, with amazing tracks like "I Said I Loved" and "Toxic." His videos started releasing that summer. A lot of post-pandemic influence is seen in the videos. With the reception he received on his first project, he felt more affirmed to pursue his music passion. With this album, he is overwhelmed with the response he was getting on his various social media platforms, and YouTube channel.
He is excited by the fact that he brought a little element of joy for people in a time when a pandemic has engulfed us with darkness. Since 2020 he has evolved and he has kept working on his unique melodic rap and has been ranked the #9 rapper in the state of Maryland as of 2023.
Looking back on his past, Magic learned that the true meaning behind wanting to make music is because he wanted to be noticed by people for being somebody important and special. In late 2022 Magic Trikk dropped his second album titled “Now You See Me” which has grown him huge popularity locally in the DMV. The inspiration behind the title is that he felt invisible by listeners based on his sound being different from other artists locally, and now he's made a name for himself, they are finally noticing him. Magic has hopes and dreams to be “One of the biggest artist in the world one day”
